JANE LANIER
ARTIST. DIRECTOR. CHOREOGRAPHER. PERFORMER. MOTHER. EDUCATOR. STORYTELLER.
Tony Award-Nominated Jane Lanier has worked with some of the most iconic storytellers In Broadway history. She was cast by Bob Fosse in the revival of Sweet Charity starring Debbie Allen, and worked with Jerry Zaks in Anything Goes at Lincoln Center and Guys and Dolls, where she understudied Faith Prince. She received her Tony Nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her work with Jerome Robbins in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, and received a Drama Desk Award Nomination for her starring role in Fosse.
Taking from all of those experiences, she began choreographing and directing, starting with her theater company in Los Angeles, to Off-Broadway, some episodic television, commercials, films, regional theaters, and as an Associate Choreographer on Broadway. She later embarked on a new chapter in academia, leading a fine arts university department and mentoring the performers of tomorrow. She regularly works as a Legacy teacher for The Verdon Fosse Legacy, paying her knowledge forward from what she learned from Bob and Gwen. As it stands today, Jane has been directing and choreographing for over 20 years.
Jane wants to continue directing, choreographing, and creating narratives. Working in the field that’s been her home since she was 11 years old. Using her voice to tell the stories.
Always wanting to grow and learn, to look at familiar pieces and create something new, to find works that she doesn’t know and crafting from scratch. Collaborating with the actors and creative team to shape, conceive, and go on a journey.
